how heavy is a pig 5. August 2014

A market hog that is prime for sale weighs between 250 and 270 pounds. A new born pig only weighs 3 or 4 pounds.

Swine are born pigs. When they get to about 20 to 25 pounds they are shoats. And may be called feeder pigs. At 12 weeks a high quality pig can weigh about 80 to 100 pounds and at 5 1/2 months 250 to 260 pounds. If kept for breeding they get up to 500 pounds and are called hogs, boars, sows etc. Some get even bigger to 600, 700 and even over 800 pounds.

A feral hog will not get as big because of lack of genetics and tough time finds food. A big feral hog will wiegh in at about 300 pounds with most only wieghing 150 to 170 pounds.
