Following the Government announcement of the November lockdown and as a result having to close Willows, we have obviously had to sadly cancel the November dates of our Santa Spectacular event.
Having carefully reviewed our options, we have unfortunately come to the difficult decision that we will have to cancel all Santa events in December too. This has been an incredibly tough decision and one that has been made with a heavy heart, but it is one we’ve had to make to ensure everyone’s safety and the long term survival of the business.
I hope the following explanation is helpful.
The cost of setting up the Santa Spectacular experience is very expensive, for those of you who have visited before you’ll know the level of detail that is put into the theming. When faced with only being able to run the Santa experience for fewer dates after being closed in November and at lower capacity, the event becomes commercially unviable.
In addition, there is no guarantee that we will come out of lockdown on the 2nd December or that if we do, we will be able to offer any indoor or under cover areas. The risk then becomes even greater, particularly after over 3 months of lockdown with no income and working at limited capacities and so limited income since re-opening.
We have also had to consider our staff as normally we would complete the setup of the event in the first 3 weeks of November, but as we will be in lockdown, the work is not considered ‘essential’ and in protecting our staff it would not be appropriate to ask them to travel to do this work.
While we know this decision will cause much upset, the decision has been taken to prioritise the safety of our staff and guests and so that Willows will be here for you all in the longer term.
These are the most challenging set of circumstances we have faced, and while Santa won’t be visiting Willows this year we’re confident he will be back next year with even more festive cheer.
Of course, your ticket money will be refunded in full and we will begin this process today. We have to refund each ticket booking individually so please bear with us but be reassured that the refund will be made.
I am sorry that I have had to share this news at a time at which we are all feeling the strain of the lockdown and with Christmas just around the corner, but I know that we will all get through this and we’re looking at making 2021 even more special for our visitors and members.
